Asset: Impulse Response

Impulse Response (IR) assets are used together with zones to simulate room acoustics.

What is an Impulse Response

  • Impulse Response (IR) assets are used together with zones to simulate room acoustics.
  • An IR asset is essentially a convolution reverb that requires an impulse file.
  • The impulse file is imported like any other sound asset, and any sound asset can be used.
  • Note that using recordings not intended as impulse files may produce unwanted sounds or noise.

Creating an IR Asset

  • Create an IR asset by right-clicking in the browser and selecting “Create New IR Asset”
  • Double-click an IR asset in the browser to open it.

  • An IR asset has three main fields:
    • Audio Asset – Drag the sound asset you want to use as the impulse file from the browser into the grey area below the Impulse Audio Asset header.
    • IR Length – Leave this set to 0 to play the full file, or specify a length (in milliseconds) to play only part of the impulse file.
    • IR Start Delay – Add a start delay (in milliseconds) before the impulse response begins.
