Simulation

Simulation and preview of patch, arrangement and stinger

Simulate a patch

  • Clicking the PLAY-button in the tool bar starts the simulation of a patch and instantiates it with no attenuation.
  • While in simulation, parameter values can be adjusted, and their effects will be heard in real time.
  • Parameter changes can be made in the local or global parameter areas, or directly in the nodes .
  • The PLAY/STOP-button-button halts the simulation of the patch.
  • Multiple patches can be simulated at the same time, with tabs indicating which ones are currently running.
  • If the studio is running in a remote session, a patch can still be previewed locally. However, playback will be routed through the currently active engine instance. For example, if connected to a session running in the Unity plugin, audio will play through that instance

Simulate arrangement and Stingers

Simulate in the arrangement view

  • Clicking the PLAY-button in the toolbar will start a simulation of the arrangement playing from State 1.
  • You can start or execute a segue to another state via the PLAY-buttons appearing while hovering over a state number.
  • Stop the simulation with the PLAY/STOP-button.
  • A state can be re-activated by clicking the PLAY-button on an already playing state. This will change variations on this state in the cases where more than one variation is available for a track, according the the rules followed by this track and/or slot.
  • You can also preview a variation directly, circumventing the rules for the track/slot.

Simulate in the stinger view

  • Clicking the PLAY-button will start a simulation of the stinger playing from variation A or at random, depending on the selection strategy setting.
  • Start playing a specific variation by hovering the letter to the left of the stinger slot, and then clicking the play symbol that appears.
  • If an arrangement is simulating at the same time, the stingers will wait and trigger at the next available agility point, and play in sync with the arrangement's beats.

Simulate in stinger view

Simulate both Arrangement and Stingers via the Preview tab

  • The Preview player is located in the preview tab in the far left work area, sharing the space with the asset browser and global parameters.

Simulate with preview panel

  • CONTROLS:
    • Arrangement - Select the arrangement you want to preview.
    • Template - Select a template or leave it at the default
    • Affected Tracks - Select a specific track in the selected arrangement and make a state change exclusively for that track. Leave at “ALL” if you want all tracks to respond to the state changes.
    • Jump to Bar - Jump to a specific bar in the selected arrangement during the next segue.
    • Play Stinger with Segue - Select a stinger to play in the next segue you execute. Depending on the situation, the arrangement or the stinger can be master and decided which segue settings should be prioritized. This is set in the stinger asset under the “If Arrangement does a segue” section.
    • Arrangement State - All available states in the currently selected arrangement will be listed in this section. Click on one of them to execute a segue to that state.
    • Arrangement Bar - All available bars in the currently selected arrangement will be listed in this section. Click on one of them to execute a jump to that specific bar.
    • Silence - Silence all the tracks but keep the preview running in sync. Each track will make a segue to state 0, which has a hard-coded silent trigger on each track. Every track will follow its segue, agility, and fade settings and will stop playing accordingly.
    • Stop - Stop the currently running preview without following any agility settings.
    • Start - Start preview of the selected arrangement.
